Japanese speaking exam

So, The Tuesday just gone, i had my  Jap speaking exam for my final year 12 exams.
It was hard going in since i was straight after lunch, and had to wait a bit outside for them to ask me to come in.  By that point i just wanted to get in their and get on with ^^
Surprisingly, i think i did well. Until your tested in a proper situation, you don't realise how much you've learnt.

Today, my Japanese sensei video my sister and i asking us for tips and about our experience so she could she the next years year 12 and so on, to help with their exam. I think it's a very good idea.
We may upload it to YouTube, if i do, I'll be sure to post a link.

I had planned on wearing kimono, but i decided after working out it would be a 1 hour drive, plus i would be hanging around for around 2 hours, on a hot Australian spring day waiting to go in, that it may not be my best plan
So on that, i didn't wear kimono, but i took lots of photos ^^
The examiners seemed impressed XP

My school is having a uniform free day tomorrow. I decided since it was my last day of formal school i would have a bit of fun.
I'm going to wear my year 6 primary school tshirt. I laughed so hard when i put it on tonight and i still fit, the only change, is I'm no longer washboard flat XD (quite the opposite actually)

This Friday is my Muck up day/ celebration day, whatever you wish to call it. I have a fantastic outfit planned for it, and I'm looking forward to sharing it.

Hope your all well.

Art exhibition

Yesterday, i spent most of my free periods helping  set up my schools year 12 art exhibition, I helped move across and display 90% of the photography works. Job well done XD
On the other hand, my right hand now has six large paper cuts, and my nails arn't looking much better XD

Tonight we made the opening and i decided to wear kimono.
I chose a very special obi as it was one i made especially for my photography class from a photo of a kookaburra transferred onto calico.
Me at the exhibition, please excuse the blurring, our VCE artworks shouldn't be online till December.

Just a shot so you can see the back ^^

What do you think???

The lollita inspired kitsuke !

So i bought a Friend of my a issue of the Gothic and Lolita bible for her birthday, and it inspired a Lolita inspired kitsuke.
But my hairs so long at the moment it would take hours to put curls in my hair. Enter sister! Shorter hair and twin resemblance XP
What do you think of our Lolita inspired kitsuke???

it's great to see all of the outfits people have been comming up for me, but what is making me even more happy is the discussion it's creating. People not wanting to contribute because they are worried about rule, or that they like me lack a sence of colour co-ordination, and like to chuck whatevor togethor before asking someone else if it looks ok. Or for those who are confident with there own styles and are giving me something of there own to create. It truly is fantastic to whatch. So i urge anyone who wants to whethor you know the kimono rules or not to have a go. This is experimentation, not critism, and the result is beutifull ^^

update ^^

ah the kimono from the last post now needs a new lining due to mildew, thanks for noticing mum before it went to far ^^

any way, looks like I'm in tired mode at the moment, i have 1 long sac this week and a folio check coming, as well as plans for another shoot, a need to finish the measurements for a speaker set I'm building and a general lack of time even when i seem to have some XD
On the bright side i finished the first disk of final fantasy 7. It's funny how when you only play that game the full renders just look mind blowing, (even though compared to now...) anyway i can see what others saw in it in 1997, and i like it XD

See you soon, maybe when i resurface next week ^^

washing kimono

Yesterday i did a photo shoot at the local gardens with my sister, 3 friends and 1 me.

It was fantastic fun but i may not post any pics since 99% are going into a folio, anyway, i managed to sit on something and I’ve had to wash my kimono. Scary stuff since i had just re sown the hem and was hoping that it wouldn't break any more thread. Luckily most of the stains came out with soap and elbow grease. now all i have to do is wait for it too dry and then iron it. Crossing my fingers i haven’t wrecked one of my favourites.

Siren out.

In Australia (I don't know about anywere else) It is cultural divesity week. Culminating Yesterday (21 March)As the international day for elimination of Racial Discrimination. I wanted to do something since my love for kimono is from another race.
I decided on My Furisode since the ribbon we were given is orange and i wanted to cary the theme. The ribbon is pinned into the bottom of my plat.
I'm really happy with the photo's we got of this outfit. I suggested to ryuu chan we have a shot on mum's steps, and it was just perfect. (too bad about the shed T_T)

The Outfit has my Chu furisode, Fukuro obi, a white loose knit scarf, my boots. Plus the ribbon. I would deffinetly wear this set again.
Shots by my sister.

My Family and i last weekend went to the How to train you Dragon arena spectacular (was epic) And i thought i would pass on my experience.

We left home early and were luck to find a car park around 200 metres from the Hisence arena. Which was lucky since any other car park would have meant a trek through mud. i was in sandals T_T

Going into the arena they had some awesome merchandise. I posted a photo with my tail on, i hope to wear it when i next go skiing. Good fun XD
Wow just relized how long my hair is. wonder how it looks if i don't plait it after washing ???
Photo thanks to my sister, on my phone

When we got into the stadium they had a projection of the dreamworks logo, (the kid on the moon fishing) these projections were almost the star of the show. They worked in beautifully with the choreography and in one scene in particular left you wondering were the best of the action was.  They were not only the scenery but were used to hide several things until they needed to be seen.

The production was started with a funny little speech telling us the flash photography hurts the dragons eye's and since we are traveling to the past there will be no mobile reception so please turn your phones off (they will be useless). It was beautifully delivered.

But the dragons. These were truly the stars of the show.

First off. Most of them were absolutely massive. I am not kidding. The first one you see is 2/3 of a tennis court. and he wasn't even the biggest. They were so life like in the way they moved. And Toothless. Omg Toothless. The emotion on his face was so real. even though they couldn't do it like the movie, it was so close it didn't matter. The overall movement was a bit lethargic, with slow and long flight scenes, which may be a bit tedious for little kids. But i was sitting there in absolute awe of these mechatronic beast that i nearly forgot there was a story going on.

The story line pretty much follows that of the movie. They had to change some things so that they translated better for onstage, but it was even more gobsmacking like that. For example, instead of a book of Dragons, they had a story teller with shadow puppets, and these puppets were massive and pretty to look at whether you looked at the projection or  the shadow puppets themselves.

Speaking of Puppets there were several dragons that were human driven puppets. You need to look them up because there hard to explain but they were good fun to watch.

All in all this was a fantastic spectacle. The story was a bit slow in some spots but you could easily distract yourself but loosing yourself in the make of these dragons or use of the setting. I wouldn't recommend it for really young children because some of these dragons are massive, and pretty scary. One of them blew fire while flying and they had budgie burners on the sides that did the job for them if they couldn't. I would say 6,7+ unless they get scared easily in those few parts. All in all it's a comedy and the humour is good. If your older and have seen the movie then i will say the movie is better. But for me it was just a joy to see the spectacle in real life. Check it out it's lots of fun, and perfect for a day out.

More kitsuke pics comming soon don't worry.

Wow first post of the New Year ^^ happy late new year XD

During the last couple of weeks I have been putting together lots of kimono ensembles to use during my photography shoots this year. Since i want to have the theme of my year 12 folio centred on them I want them to not only fit into a very non-Japanese society and merge Yofuku and Wafuku so that it becomes easier to wear out.

I started with an idea for a cocktail styled dress. In my new cream ro kimono. With a black singlet dress underneath (suggestion courtesy of my mum ^^)

I posted on IG and got some fantastic responses and great ideas as to ways this outfit could look better. SO out came my only hanhaba obi and a bunko musubi for take 2;

Then I tried it with my meisan kimono witch unless I could find some way to fix the wear spots at the knees was not going to see the light of day for a long time.

It worked beautifully. I'm really happy with the contrast here. But that’s all of my light weight summer standing kimono I have. I want to try out some more but that’s going to need to wait till the weather gets cooler.

Other ensembles I’ve sketched but haven’t tried yet are a ko-furi, waist coat, berai ensemble. Some steampunk designs, some outfits that I need a petticoat for, and a general miss match of belts hats kimono and heels. ^^

Keep watching and I’ll post ensembles as I try them ^^

Ja matta ne,
